Waiting for Ulysses

I mentioned this a week or so back-- I've been working on a new blog. I enjoy doing this blog, but over the year and 9 months I've been writing this blog(wow! I stuck with it that long? I've never committed to anything for that long a time!), I've had a hard time pinning down what exactly it was that I wanted to write about. I think in the beginning I wrote more from heart, just about whatever thing that struck my fancy. At some point, the whole blog became more polished, and probably lost some of the charm. At another point, I made the blog a collect-all for anything I found interesting, and then later it reincarnated as a fashion blog, and lately, it seems to be a repository for everything work related.

Soooo, I have finally found a topic that I am PASSIONATE about and I've decided it should have it's own blog. That blog will focus on its own thing, and this one will continue to be as sporadic as ever.

What's the new blog about? Well, it's mostly about my struggle to love God more. To that end, I'll post things that inspire me, or things that have me thinking. I'd like to think that one day it will be a resource that I can reference to find information on a myriad of topics. I'd love it if you would check it out, and possibly add me to your reader.

A Really Cool Photo Blog

My friend Autumn turned me onto this "blog," or rather, photo essay that a friend of hers is doing.

His name is Rusty Ralston and his project is entitled,

"30 days (and nights) in the Williamsburg-ish Bushwick-ish section of Brooklyn."

So far, there's only a few pictures posted, but they are haunting in their starkness and austerity. For anyone who is a fan of New York City, or of these Brooklyn neighborhoods in particular, or if you happen to love beautiful photography, then you should definitely check out Rusty's work over on his blog.

I can't wait to see what all 30 days brings!

I Won!

At the end of March I entered a contest that I saw posted on the Craft Magazine blog. I'm always entering these things (and you should too!) because you never know, you might actually win!

The book is filled (over 400 pages) with lots of fun crafts. The how-to-make silhouettes one caught my eye (I LOVE silhouettes!), as did the making candles section. That said, I think I'll pass this book along to my twin, who is infinitely more crafty than I am and adores Martha.

Do you use Google Reader? It's a great way to follow your favorite blogs, as well as other websites. You just subscribe to the websites feed (it's easy-- Google Reader will show you how) and voila! Instead of having to go to each blog's page each day to see if they've updated, it'll all come to you in a nice format in the Reader. That's how I stay on top of the blogs I read-- which means-- I always know when there is a new contest to enter. (Like this one where some crazy blogger is giving away tickets to see the Jonas Brothers in concert in Canada. If you win, they'll even fly you there!)

My New Hobby

I seem to have a lot of free time on my hands these days, and as such, have some new hobbies. One of things that I find myself enjoying is reading other people's blogs. It reminds me of reading the "Life and Leisure" or "Metro" section of the newspaper-- there's a lot of human interest out there.

Usually I make the rounds through all of my blogs, growing excited when the bloggers have posted something new, disappointed when they haven't. It's a rather tedious affair as it's rare for many, or even most to have updated their blogs since the last time I checked.

Enter Google Reader, the free service from Google that keeps all of my blogs organized and lets me know anytime someone has posted a new entry. It's brilliant and causes me to question, "Oh Google Reader, where have you been all of my life?"

This is definitely worth checking out-- I highly recommend this service. And if you know of a blog that I should be reading, let me know, as I'll definitely add it to my reader. I'm always looking for new stuff to read. And while you're add it, add me to yours ;)
